Message from the President of Congress

Welcome to International Congress on Children with Complex Health Disorders, that will be held in Brasília from April 24th to 28th, 2023, under the topic: “Technologies for care and for cure”.

            This is the second congress organized by the Instituto do Câncer Infantil e Pediatria Especializada, a non-profit institution that manages the Hospital da Criança de Brasília José Alencar (HCB). This event contributes to the consolidation of the role of HCB concerning the care of children in the Federal District and surrounding cities affected by severe and complex health disorders. Those rare diseases include cancer and genetic diseases, hemoglobinopathies, primary immunodeficiencies, severe asthma, cystic fibrosis, biliary atresia, and progressive neuromuscular diseases, in addition to other rare diseases of different etiologies such as severe epilepsy.

            The Congress will discuss relevant scientific research themes that translate into advanced technologies for diagnosis and treatment. It will also discuss soft technologies, related to advances in comprehensive and humanized care for children within the perspective of public health care networks.

The congregation of researchers, managers, and professionals from different health care levels, as well as users from other sectors of knowledge and practices, shall contribute to better care for children affected by health complex disorders according to the opportunities offered by the congress:

  • Discussion and presentation of treatment and diagnosis innovations;
  • Practical incorporation of new knowledge in a care perspective focused on the user and her or his family,
  • Professional interdisciplinary development among health care professionals, managers, users and other community sectors such as education, third sector, press, judiciary, etc and
  • Incentives to national and international collaboration, user-focused, to discuss issues of general interest for comprehensive solutions – care policies.

 

The program is being carefully organized for the best use of all participants, who will have the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge in presenting free themes and innovative work.
