Message from ICIPE’s president

The Instituto do Câncer Infantil e Pediatria Especializada (ICIPE) has established a working partnership with the Health Secretariat of the Federal District of Brasilia to offer high level care to children with complex health disorders in the Federal District and surrounding areas through an effective and transparent management agreement with the Hospital da Criança de Brasília José Alencar (HCB).

Over the last ten years since the inception of the Brasilia Children’s Hospital, ICIPE has made continuous efforts to improve the quality of care. HCB was certified in 2020 with the Brazilian ISQua ONA 3, the first and only hospital in the Federal District to achieve this level of accreditation.

According to the world literature, service in centralized health units, such as the HCB, with the use of appropriate technologies, the high scientific and tacit knowledge of multidisciplinary teams and the best available scientific evidence, result in better practices for the clinical services offered to this group of children.

With this perspective, ICIPE, in partnership with the Federal District Government (SES/DF), has been paving the way for an evidence-based approach. Setting up a solid teaching and research program at HCB offering 12 medical residency programs in specialized areas of pediatrics and the organizing of scientific events such as this such as the International Congress on Children with Complex Health Disorders, which will take place in Brasília/DF, from April 24 to 28, 2023.

This Congress intends to be an additional milestone in the consolidation of the ambitious proposal of care, initiated more than 30 years ago by the ABRACE (Associação Brasileira de Assistência às Famílias de Crianças Portadoras de Câncer e Hemopatias) who led this whole movement.

Welcome all of you!

Francisco Cláudio Duda

President of ICIPE
